Acting PM visits Baulevu community following the burning of a Ramayan at a temple

Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has met with Fijians in Baulevu Landing, in Nausori following an attempted break-in at the Nav Durga Temple last Thursday where a Ramayan was set on fire.

A Facebook post by the Fijian Government says Sayed-Khaiyum has reassured Fijians living in the area and provided them with new holy books.

He also took the time to talk to local farmers about crimes in the area and issues in regard to roads, water, electricity access and other Government incentives.

Sayed-Khaiyum was accompanied by the Minister for Employment, Parveen Bala, Minister for Agriculture, Dr Mahendra Reddy, Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Faiyaz Koya, Assistant Minister, Vijay Nath, Assistant Minister Jale Sigarara and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Itendra Nair.

Police investigation continue into the alleged case of sacrilege at the temple.
