Abandoned Mothers tell story

As children around the country are making plans on what to do this Sunday for Mothers Day, there are some unfortunate mothers who have been neglected by their children.

Fijivillage visited Old People's Home in Samabula this morning and spoke to some mothers who say that they have not been visited by their children for years.

45 year old single mother Anjali Lata of Waimalika, Nadi whose parents passed away while she was young can clearly remember the day when her brother dropped her at the Old People's home.

According to Lata, the brother told her that she is very sick and they cannot look after her, which she said is all false.

She said she misses her daughters and family members.

For 73 year old Kaliti of Gau, she brought up her only daughter thinking that she will be caring for her.

But she was proved wrong when her only daughter decided to send her to the Old People's home in Samabula.

She has been there for more than two years and is hardly visited by her family.

Kaliti said she used to fulfill all her daughter's dreams when she was young.

According to Kaliti she was brought to Suva from Gau by her daughter who promised her a better life.

Kaliti said she sacrificed many things to bring up her daughter.

Mothers Day is this Sunday.
