AG says some farmers in the North have lost 70 sheep, goats and cattle

Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says some farmers they have visited in Bua have lost about 70 goats, sheep and cattle on their farm.

While speaking to the residents of Vunivau in Labasa, Sayed-Khaiyum says a lot of the farmers in Wainikoro in Labasa, Lekutu and Dreketi have lost everything on their farms.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Mahendra Reddy will be announcing something soon about the agriculture assistance that will be given to the farmers.

Reddy has said they are planning to provide farmers with planting materials.

He said the agricultural officers are on the ground to conduct an assessment to put a dollar value to the damages after which they will be able to assist these farmers in the long term.
