AG alleges FTUC Secretary of supporting 1997 constitution abrogation
Attorney General and Minister for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has alleged that Fiji Trades Union Congress General Secretary, Felix Anthony supported the path taken after the abrogation of the 1997 constitution.

Sayed-Khaiyum has reacted strongly to Anthony's statement yesterday that the constitution consultation process is time consuming and costly.

Anthony had said that there is no need to reinvent the wheel by writing up a new constitution.

Anthony said education must start with the military and the disciplined forces who are charged to uphold the constitution and protect all citizens of Fiji.

He said after all, their oath when taking up office is to uphold the constitution and not to trash it when it does not suit them.

However Sayed-Khaiyum said Anthony was saying something else the day after the 1997 constitution was abrogated.

He said he has witnesses to prove this.
