ADB could potentially offer US$350M loan over next 5 years

The Asian Development Bank has said it can potentially offer US$350 million worth of assistance to Fiji over the next five years.

This will be through concessional loans of below one percent interest.

Caroline Currie, ADB Pacific Sub-regional Office Economic Programming Unit Head said they have successfully negotiated with the government on their country partnership strategy that outlines the type and amount of assistance.

Currie said it is far cheaper for the government to implement its infrastructure and strategy by taking loans from the ADB.

She added Fiji will be given about 25 years to pay off the loan.
