The Association of Banks in Fiji (ABIF) is expected to hold a meeting soon to look into a report by the Consumer Council of Fiji assessing financial services in the country.
The report “Banking Services in Fiji from a Consumers Perspective” details a few issues such as the high rates charged by banks as well as the long waiting hours for customers to be seen by bank reps.
Chairman of the association Norman Wilson said the banks are disappointed with the reports as none of their recommendations were taken on board by the Consumer Council.
He added that they will be looking at the report to determine whether it is indeed factual.
He added that the association is expected to hold a meeting to decide their next step.
Meanwhile the Commerce Commission is looking into the report that was launched last month.
