A 10-year-old girl and two women passed away in three separate accidents in the last two days.

Police say the 10-year-old girl was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her father, which veered off the road and hit a post along the Kings Road in Navola, Korolevu in Sigatoka yesterday.

The girl's father and three others are admitted to the Sigatoka Hospital.

The second incident, Police say, involved a 47-year-old woman who was travelling in a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man.

While overtaking, the driver hit a truck from the opposite lane, causing it to veer off the road.

The accident occurred on Friday night along the Kings Road, near Vitogo in Lautoka.

The woman sustained serious injuries, which unfortunately led to her death.

The third accident was an alleged hit-and-run incident in Suva last night, where a woman in her 30s passed away.

Police say the woman was crossing along Stinson Parade when she was hit by a vehicle, which failed to stop after the accident.

The victim was rushed to the CWM Hospital, where she was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are still searching for the driver.

Investigations continue.

The national road death toll currently stands at 52 compared to 42 for the same period last year.
