95 LTA officers recruited to monitor E-ticketing system

The Land Transport Authority has recruited 95 officers to monitor the enforcement of bus drivers and passengers conduct towards the E-ticketing system in the country.

This was confirmed to Fijivilalge by the LTA Board Chairman Vijay Maharaj after we raised concerns regarding bus drivers not having enough disposable E-ticketing cards.

LTA says these 95 officers will be deployed to various bus stands and bus stops which includes 14 who will be deployed in the Northern Division, 20 will be deployed in the Western and 61 will be posted in Central and Eastern Division.

Maharaj says having these officers to monitor the E-ticketing system shows that LTA is in line with the government’s vision.

He adds that members of the public can contact them via text message on the number 582 or they can call them on 3342886 for any complaints.

Meanwhile, 41 traffic infringement have been issued since January this year for failing to comply with the Electronic Fare Ticketing Act.
