The 8-year-old boy who was an acute admission at the Levuka Hospital on Tuesday has been successfully airlifted to the CWM Hospital yesterday morning.

The family of the boy posted a video online appealing to the people of Levuka to assist in donating blood for their child, who urgently needed blood transfusion at the Levuka Hospital.

A family member said the support shown by the people of Ovalau was unbelievable and overwhelming.

He further says that people arrived from all over Ovalau to donate blood, but some were asked to return as there were more than enough people to donate blood.

They are thankful that the boy is in stable condition through the support shown by the Coalition Government and the people of Ovalau that came in large numbers to donate blood.

The Health Ministry says Health Minister, Dr Atonio Lalabalavu, had issued a directive for the young patient to be medically evacuated to CWM Hospital at the earliest opportunity.

They say the boy is now admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Ward at CWM Hospital under the care of the Paediatric specialist team at the hospital and his condition has stabilized.
