8-year-old Elenoa Gukiwasa will be travelling to Sydney this week to receive a prosthetic arm with funds raised from the Aspen Medical Foundation’s charity.

Gukiwasa is one of the children who was affected last year in the tragic bus accident in Lautoka and will be undergoing a prosthetic fitting by APC Prosthetics in Sydney.

She will be accompanied by her grandmother and Aspen Medical clinicians Dr. Manoa Valeniyasana, Setaita Bulai and Linda Jorgensen.

The accident occurred near the Lautoka Hospital on the 21st of June 2023, after which Aspen Medical in Fiji approached the Aspen Medical Foundation to support Gukiwasa on her path to recovery.

Aspen Medical says this is a significant step forward in her rehabilitation process, and this journey underscores the community's collective effort and unwavering support, enabling her to access the care she needs for a brighter future.

The fitment of the prosthetic limb and initial physiotherapy will start tomorrow and will take several days.
