7yr old dies in Koronivia fire
A 7 year old girl perished in a house fire in Koronivia on Saturday night while 2 children are still admitted in a critical condition at the CWM hospital.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the 2 bedroom house was fully destroyed by the fire while the primary school girl was trapped inside.

According to Naisoro the two children aged 12 and 15 years old are admitted in the hospital, the 15 year old underwent surgery last night both sustained 85% burns in the house fire.

She said 8 people were in the house when the fire started, most were treated for minor burns.

The Police and Fire Authority investigations revealed the fire started from the children’s room due to a candle which the family had lit because they had no electricity.

The recent house fire in Koronivia on Saturday night brings the number of structural fire incidents so far this year to 13 compared to 9 for the same period last year.

National Fire Authority Acting CEO Aseri Radrodro said despite numerous warnings people continue to disregard the advice given by the NFA particularly in regards to house fire safety before going to bed.
