79,505 students from 490 schools around the country who travel by bus to school should have started receiving their state-funded bus fares from yesterday.
In a statement, Education Minister Filipe Bole confirms this and adds the Ministry delivered all cheques to the District Education Offices who then delivered to the schools yesterday.
Transport Ministry Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete said if students have not received their bus fares, parents should be prepared to pay the morning fares.
Waqainabete said the school heads and management are also being urged to distribute the bus fares to students on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, in a memo sent out to all 57 bus operators in the country, Association General Secretary, Rohit Latchan said that basically there is no change to the current situation - bus drivers will collect fares from all students.
