A 7-year-old girl from Cunningham is currently admitted at the CWM Hospital after she was hit by a minivan.
The incident took place at 4 yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu is calling on parents to monitor their children as the New Year celebration is expected to continue this week.
ACP Driu says children will be celebrating the New Year this week by splashing water amongst each other, banging drums and swimming.
He says adult supervision is important to see that safety is not being risked.
He says there have been mishaps in the past years as a result of the New Year’s celebration and a few people have been taken to task therefore safety should be the priority.
