A 65-year-old woman has been sentenced to one year and eight months imprisonment by the Nausori Magistrates Court for stealing a gold necklace during a funeral in 2013.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne stated that Chandra Ketu stole a gold necklace valued at $3,000 after she was called by the complainant to clean the house during her husband’s funeral.
It was also stated in court that Ketu sold the necklace to a jewellery store.
