603 people have lost their lives to road accidents in the last 10 years.

Director Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mitieli Divuana revealed this during the closing of the National Road Safety Week at the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024.

SSP Divuana says 603 people have left behind their families and aspirations, however, in most of the cases recorded, accidents were avoidable.

He further says avoidable, because the causes of accidents were mainly due to poor decision-making and lack of respect for other people and their right to be safe on the road.

While reflecting on the National Road Safety Awareness Week Director Traffic asked people to adopt a change of mindset for their future and children.

He is urging drivers to remain vigilant when it comes to road safety.
