A 60-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly raping a 10-year-old student on the 10th of this month at his home.
The suspect is in custody at the Valelevu Police Station.
Police say the man allegedly committed the offence when the victim was at his home to get a frying pan.
The two are neighbours and the mother of the victim had allegedly asked her daughter to get the item from him.
The alleged matter came to light when the victim informed her teacher during a gender counselling session last Thursday.
Investigations continue.
