The departure of former Swire Shipping Fijian Drua hooker and captain Tevita Ikanivere to Japan has created a significant void in the team, with six hookers now competing to fill the position.

This was shared with fijivillage Sports in Nadi by Drua hooker Mesulame Dolokoto.

The 31-year-old says the squad is ready to embrace the challenge ahead this season.

The former Queen Victoria School student has been with the Drua since the club’s foundation and is one of the team’s most experienced players.

Dolokoto has also represented the FIJI Water Flying Fijians at international level.

He credits his family for their continued support throughout his professional career, particularly his mother, who regularly checks in on him despite her busy schedule and frequent travels.

Dolokoto says the Drua currently have six hookers in the squad, with four in the development squad and two in the main squad.

He adds that competition within the team is healthy, as it keeps players on their toes and leaves no room for complacency, knowing that anyone can take your spot if you fail to perform.

Dolokoto says he is ready for the challenge, with all six hookers pushing hard to earn the position.
