50yr old man stands trial for allegedly raping his daughter

A 50-year-old man is standing trial before High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe for allegedly raping his daughter.

The man is charged with four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count each of attempted rape and indecent assault.

The alleged incidents occurred between January 2005 to December last year.

The court heard that the alleged incidents started when the girl was 12 years old.

The girl is now 24 and she told the court that her father would come to her holding a knife or a hammer telling her to have sex with him or he would hurt her.

The girl said that she felt disgusted and did not like what her father was doing.

The trial continues at the Suva High Court.
