Recipient of the Commemorative Medal Georgina Ledua.

Top local artist and songwriter Georgina Ledua says receiving the Fiji 50 Independence Commemorative Medal from President Jioji Konrote is a new beginning for her and she will continue to strive to become better in everything she does.

Ledua says she is still surprised and excited and is thankful to all her fans and supporters for nominating her for the award.

She says she started performing at resorts in 1995 and it was challenging as she was a single parent at the time but she does not regret anything about it as it made her strong going forward.

Ledua adds this year has been challenging as some of her gigs at hotels were cancelled but she is thankful to her fans for hiring her for some family functions to be able to earn some income for her family.

Ledua has recorded nine albums and she is currently working on her new album ‘Burekaurasi’.
