50 schools change race based names
The Education Ministry has achieved another milestone in the signing of certificates by the permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal for the 50 schools that have registered with new names.

Education Minister Filipe Bole is happy with the achievement as it came at a crucial time when Fiji is celebrating Easter, which signifies unity and sacrifice.

Bole said they need to place the interests of the nation first including unity so to be able to steer our nation forward to a better Fiji.

The Ministry is working towards removing all policies and programme, which are based on racial discrimination.

Schools that have names with racial affiliation were instructed by the Ministry to take on new names.

Of the 50 schools that changed names, 49 are Primary schools and one secondary school.
