A five-year-old boy is believed to have drowned in Savusavu during a family picnic on Monday.
Police say the child was from Vunidogoloa.
A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death as investigations continue.
This is the tenth drowning case this month.
The drowning toll currently stands at 31 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
