5 remanded over alleged theft in Pacific Harbour
Five people including two men and three women who were allegedly involved in stealing a watch worth $1 million from a villa in Pacific Harbor have been remanded in custody by the Navua Magistrates Court.

Luke Kata and Anish Prasad have been charged with aggravated burglary and theft.

Kata is expected to appear in the Suva High Court in the next 14 days while Prasad is expected to be produced in the High Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, three women charged with receiving stolen properties have also been remanded in custody.

Six people including three men and three women were taken into custody earlier this week after they were allegedly involved in stealing the watch worth $1 million and $54,000 cash from a villa in Pacific Harbor.

Police confirmed that the incident took place sometime between the 10th and the 13th of this month when the owner of the villa was away to drop his family at the Nadi International Airport.

It is alleged that three men broke into the villa and walked away with a safe containing $54,000 cash and the $1 million wrist watch.

The good news for the owner is that Police recovered the wrist watch and some cash.

Two of the suspects were employed as gardeners at the villa.

Police said three other female suspects allegedly spent some money in a shopping spree in Lautoka.

One suspect is still being questioned.
