Five new caps have been named in the Digicel Fiji 7s team for the NZ and USA 7s.
The new look team will definitely have more speed and firepower as Coach, Iliesa Tanivula and his assistant, Josateki Savou now look for the winning combination to successfully defend the NZ 7's title in Wellington next weekend.
Red Rock playmaker, Peni Gaunimeke capped off a dream week after he was named as one of the new boys in the team together with Nemani Nagusa, Semesa Gonevou, Kelemedi Bola and Apisai Navoro.
22 year old Gaunimeke from Waiqanake village said while it is a dream come true for him, a lot is expected in New Zealand from this team.
Tanivula said being the defending Champion in New Zealand is not an easy task for any team. He adds that this tournament means a lot to him and Fiji's quest for the IRB 7's title.
The team going to Wellington and Las Vegas - Jerry Burotu, Apisai Nayabo, Watisoni Votu, Nemani Nagusa, Semesa Gonevou, Kelemedi Bola, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Emosi Vuucago, Ilai Tinai, Peni Gaunimeke, Joeli Lutumailagi and Apisai Navoro.
Vucago will captain the side and will be assisted by Burotu.
Fiji is pooled with South Africa, France and Canada in the NZ 7s which kicks at 1pm next Friday.
New Zealand 7s coach, Gordon Tietjens who is also known as the master tactician is now eagerly waiting for the defending NZ 7s champion, Fiji to arrive for battle in Wellington next week.
Speaking to Fijivillage News, Tietjens said it is always sweet to win at home and the NZ team is fired up to deliver next weekend.
Tietjens also confirmed that he will rely on the Fijian firepower next weekend, and he said people should watch out for the new Fijian in the black jersey, David Raikuna.
Barring any upsets, NZ is likely to meet Fiji in the final in Wellington.
