Five people are in police custody after a successful drug raid was conducted on board an inter-island vessel that was returning from Kadavu yesterday.

In custody are three crew members and two men alleged to be receivers of the illicit substances believed to be marijuana which was hidden in bags of root crops.

Police say the raid conducted on the vessel resulted in the seizure of several parcels, bullets and branches of dried leaves all believed to be marijuana.

The raid was conducted by the Totogo Joint Ops with K9 officers .
