45 detained Fijian Peacekeepers released
Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama makes the announcement while the Army Commander, Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga looks on

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that he is happy that none of the 45 Fijian UN peacekeepers were harmed while they were held in Syria.

This is after the soldiers were released.

Bainimarama said all the 45 Fijian soldiers are now in the safe zone. 

Bainimarama thanked all Fijians who stood united to ensure that our peacekeepers are released.

Army Commander, Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga said they are glad that the Al Nusra group kept its promise.

Brigadier General Tikoitoga also said celebrations started early this morning when the 45 peacekeepers reached the safe zone.
