44 confirmed deaths after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston

There are 44 confirmed deaths after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

National Disaster Management Office Director Akapusi Tuifagalele said a woman in her 70s died at the CWH Hospital after she was airlifted from Koro following serious injuries.

14,799 people are still living in 476 evacuation centers in the Eastern, Northern and Western division.

Tuifagalele said people who are being taken out of the evacuation centers are being moved into tents, rehabilitated with relatives or being shifted into community halls.

He said there are 11 schools that are being used as evacuation centers while 15 schools are closed as they are badly damaged due to the Cyclone.
