43-year-old woman charged with obtaining financial advantage

A 43-year-old woman has been charged with one count of allegedly obtaining financial advantage by deception through a false Facebook advertisement.

She will appear this afternoon at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that the woman had asked the victim to send her $80 to secure her investment.

The accused then allegedly asked for another $200.

The victim became suspicious and had lodged a report with the Tavua Police Station.

Police are urging people not to send money without verifying the details of the individual or institution they claim to represent.

They say most entities do not conduct their business via phone or messaging platforms, and they urge vigilance and caution when receiving such requests online.
