43 new cases of COVID-19

43 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded by the Health Ministry since Tuesday with 24 cases alone in the last 24 hours.

There are 101 active cases.

The national 7-day average daily test positivity is 3.2% which is within the WHO recommendation of 5%.

This means 3.2% of the COVID-19 tests conducted by the Health Ministry return a positive result.

Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong says they have have noted an increasing trend in cases.

He says while the increase is not obvious on their epidemiological curve graph they are maintaining close surveillance of case numbers.

Doctor Fong says they are monitoring hospital admissions and testing for COVID-19.

He stresses that the rising case trends and the reported death serve to highlight the need for greater booster dose coverage.
