41-year-old Eparama Nasomia of Dama Village received a tractor and disc harrow through government assistance aimed at supporting farmers and improving agricultural productivity.

The Ra farmer, who once relied on hired machinery and even cows to prepare his land, says a new tractor will significantly improve his farming operations and help increase his family's income.

Nasomia, a former mechanic who has been farming for more than eight years, says preparing land was often expensive and time-consuming, affecting the efficiency of his work.

He says the new tractor will allow him to prepare land faster, work more efficiently and accomplish more on the farm.

Nasomia says the assistance will not only improve production but also help secure a better future for his family.

The Ministry of Agriculture says the provision of modern farming equipment is part of efforts to help farmers increase production, reduce operational challenges and strengthen livelihoods in rural communities.

The Ministry adds that investing in farm machinery is expected to contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of Fiji's agricultural sector.
