Minister for Lands Faiyaz Koya today issued a total of 40 approval notices and 173 registered leases to families residing in informal settlements in the Western Division.

40 approval notices were given to the people of an informal settlement in Navakai and 35 registered leases have been given in Nadi.

In addition to this, Koya says 25 registered leases will be distributed in Rakiraki, 21 in Tavua, 70 registered leases in Ba and 22 in Lautoka.

This will be done today.

Koya has highlighted that a total of 360 approval notices were issued for the informal settlements earlier which has given security to informal settlers around Fiji.

Koya has reiterated Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama’s earlier statement FijiFirst will develop more State land for squatter development and all State Land on which squatters have been living will be subdivided and squatters will be given 99 year leases.

He says with this initiative, the Government aims to fulfill this promise on securing the future of the upcoming generation.
