4 rescued after wooden bridge collapses into a Nadi river

Four people travelling in a car fell into the Vuniyasi River in Nadi after the wooden bridge they were on collapsed last night.

Following the quick actions by nearby villagers, all four people were rescued safely, with no injuries or fatalities.

Anish Raju, a concerned resident of Nadi, has called on the Fiji Roads Authority to conduct thorough safety assessments of bridges and provide clear guidance on whether they are safe to use.

Raju stressed the need for regular inspections to prevent such incidents.

While responding to our questions, the FRA confirmed that they are aware of the incident and have launched a preliminary investigation.

They assure that a detailed update will be provided once the investigation is complete.
