Four Police officers will appear in court on Friday for an allegedly assaulting a victim during a drug raid in Wailea settlement during the month of March 2024.
Police say the matter was reported by the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission on behalf of the victim.
Police say following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the four police officers have been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous harm.
The four will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court.
The Fiji Police Force says they remain committed to upholding the integrity of the policing profession through the conduct of investigations to verify allegations made against police.
Upon the completion of the investigation, the file will be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice.
This process is necessary to ensure transparency of the investigation process, and to eliminate further claims that may arise of collusion and perverting the course of justice, when officers are implicated in.
