Four evacuation centres in the Western Division remain open as many evacuees’ homes are still flooded due to ongoing drainage issues.

Western Division Commissioner, Apolosi Lewaqai says there are four evacuation centres in Nadi - Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, and Korovuto Secondary School, while in Tavua, the evacuees are sheltered at Tavua District School.

He says this situation particularly affects residents of the Nawajikuma settlement in Nawaka, Nadi.

The Western Division Commissioner adds approval for families to return home will only be granted by the Health Inspector after all assessments are completed.
