Four Fiji Corrections Service officers have been suspended following an assault on an inmate at the Lautoka Remand Centre.
A CCTV video that has been widely shared on social media shows an officer dragging an inmate into a dormitory and kicking and punching him several times.
Fiji Corrections Acting Commissioner, Auta Moceisuva has suspended the four officers to allow for a thorough investigation.
The Corrections Service maintains that suspending personnel is standard procedure when investigating allegations of assault or breaches of internal operational instructions at any Corrections Center nationwide.
