32-year-old woman dies in a house fire in Tacirua East
Fire at Tacirua East yesterday afternoon.

A 32-year-old woman has passed away in a fire incident that destroyed a three-bedroom concrete house in Tacirua East yesterday afternoon.

The National Fire Authority says they received the call at 3.56pm yesterday from the Totogo Police Station and the fire crew responded immediately.

They say upon arrival the team had to cut through an electronic gate to enter the premises and put out the fire.

NFA adds the house was fully engulfed when the fire crew arrived at the scene and the crew managed to stop its spread to other adjacent buildings which were a few meters apart.

They say it was very unfortunate that the body of a woman was found in the sitting room and is believed to be the home owner’s wife.

NFA Chief Executive Officer Puamau Sowane is urging everyone to be alert and vigilant and take fire safety seriously.

He says if you are home during this lockdown period, please check and ensure that fire safety measures are in place.

NFA is working with the Police to conduct its investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
