After 5 days of Police Operation Cavuraka, more than 30,000 marijuana plants have been found on 12 separate farms in the highlands of Navosa.

A nine hour trek by officers from both the Fiji Police Force and Republic of Fiji Military Forces discovered a farm where more than 17,000 marijuana plants were being cultivated.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Luke Navela who visited the team today said the morale of the officers is high as they continue their efforts in locating the farms.

Navela said that as the Commissioner of Police has reiterated, no matter how far these farmers will go to hide, Police will get to them.

ACP Navela said majority of the farms located had plants which were young and most had nurseries.

The plants found range from 2cm to over 1 metre in height.

At the same time a team is currently working to identify the farmers as well as track down the proceeds of crime and those who have or are benefitting from the drug trade.
