3 people in custody for allegedly setting a shop and mosque on fire in Taveuni

Three people are in police custody for allegedly setting fire to a shop and mosque in Taveuni last night.

Police confirm the three are being questioned for alleged arson.

The Divisional Crime Officer North and a team from the Criminal Investigations Department in Labasa are in Taveuni carrying out investigations.

A team from the NFA is also helping with investigations into the cause of the fire.

The shop in Naqara, Taveuni was destroyed in the blaze.

No one was injured.

Police say they also received a report that the Macuata Muslim League Mosque was on fire last night.

They say a team was deployed however the fire was already put out by a neighbour.

The fire was outside the mosque.
