Three men are currently in police custody after a raid conducted on an inter-island vessel returning from Kadavu yesterday led to the seizure of illicit drugs believed to be marijuana.

Police say the raid was conducted by a team from Totogo, Joint K9 Unit and Waterpol.

Seized substances include dried branches and leaves found wrapped in aluminium foil inside a plastic and a bag.

Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan is advising the public that police have stepped up their focus on drugs as they anticipate peddlers to be looking for quick means of earning money.

Khan says they are aware of the increased activities of drug peddlers as they look to make money over the busy festive season.
