A 29-year-old man who assaulted his wife last Wednesday has been jailed for 6 months by the Vunidawa Magistrates Court.
Sikeli Manumanulaca was charged with one count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
He pleaded guilty to punching his wife and also kicking her causing multiple injuries on her face.
Resident Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne stressed that a custodial sentence is warranted to protect the woman from future violence saying the man has continued to subject his wife to violence even after being issued with a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
