A 28‑year‑old military officer who is charged with one count of attempted murder has been further remanded in custody.
Rajiv Krishan Padyachi allegedly tried to murder his partner over the weekend.
Padyachi is alleged to have attempted to drown his partner while swimming in Colo‑i‑Suva on Saturday.
A team of police officers heard the woman’s cry for help and managed to save her and arrested the accused.
The woman sustained injuries during the alleged incident and was treated and sent home.
A Domestic Violence Restraining Order has been issued against the 28‑year‑old man.
The man had applied for bail however Police Prosecutor Apenisa Keresoni had objected to bail as the man had committed an indictable offence.
The Prosecution has also made an application to transfer the case to the Suva High Court which was granted by Magistrate Sufia Hamza.
The case will be called on the 21st of this month at the Suva High Court.
