283 cases of dengue fever recorded for the central division
Two hundred eighty three cases of dengue fever have been recorded for the central division in the last two months.

According to the Ministry of Health in the central division the Suva Nausori corridor recorded the majority of cases.

36 positive cases were recorded for the Western Division and 11 cases were recorded in the Northern division.

The Ministry said they had mobilized health teams within the central division to ensure effective and efficient dengue responses which included clinical intervention as well as public health measures.

The Ministry said that insecticide spraying only kills flying mosquitoes and does not remove the breeding places and all open  stagnant  water  should  be  drained  as  mosquitoes  breed  in these  places.

It is also advisable to use mosquito repellent and mosquito nets.

Meanwhile,  insecticide  spraying  has  been  completed  at  Vatuwaqa,  Samabula,  Nabua, Laucala Beach, Domain, Grantham Road, Tacirua East, Khalsa Road, Sakoca, Wailoku, Tamavua, Princess Road and Mead Road.
