A 27-year-old man from Korovuto, Nadi is in police custody for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident that caused the death of a 61-year-old man over the weekend.

Police say the team was led by the Divisional Traffic Officer West and upon receiving information and leads, arrested the suspect at a car wash along the Nadi back road.

Investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the 61-year-old man from Koronubu in Ba was a passenger in a car driven by a 48-year-old farmer from Toge in Ba, which was stopped during a traffic operation on Friday night after it was found to be speeding in a 60km/hour zone.

Police say while traffic officers were processing the 48-year-old driver, the victim got off the vehicle and, while crossing the road to where the Police Traffic Officers were, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle.

Due to the impact, the man landed in the opposite lane, where he was hit by another vehicle.
