Minister for Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu.

Minister for Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu says they are in the process to install 26 more tsunami warning sirens in Viti Levu.

While responding to SODELPA MP Jese Saukuru’s question on the effectiveness of our tsunami warning system, Seruiratu says they will start the siren installation in November and the locations have been identified.

The Minister adds that the tsunami warning system is effective for now, it can be improved and the government is committed to improving it.

Seruiratu says they are also in talks with the service providers for mobile applications.

Seruiratu further says they have conducted over 300 training sessions to help the people manage their own disaster responses should they receive a tsunami alert.
