26 drivers have been arrested in the last 48 hours for drunk driving.
From the month of July to October this year, 325 people have been arrested for drunk driving.
Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says despite repeated requests for drivers to take heed of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, they continue to arrest drivers who are disregarding this warning.
Qiliho says out the 26 arrests that have been made in the past 48 hours, 13 drivers were provisional licence holders.
He says they are now entering the busy festive season, a time that is known for merrymaking.
Qiliho says if people do not change their perception and understand the dangers of drunk driving then we are going to see more lives being lost on our roads.
He adds that Fiji has already surpassed last year's road death toll recording 54 deaths compared to 47 for the same period last year.
