The workshop aims at formulating progressive strategies to attract more women into politics.

24% of the candidates in the 2018 general elections were women and 10 won seats in parliament.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa highlighted this during the opening of the National Forum on Women In Politics at Novotel Lami.

Vuniwaqa says that while females have progressed in the political spectrum "being female still affects how safe they are, how much they earn and whether they have access, presence, and influence in the domain of power and politics".
