A 22-year old man has been arrested after he allegedly stole and stripped a taxi belonging to a 65-year old man.

Police say the suspect had hired the victim’s taxi from Valelevu and upon reaching Navuso, threatened him before fleeing with the taxi.

Police say coordinated efforts between Divisional Taskforce teams has led to the arrest.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says the taxi was reported stolen from Qiolevu Road, Navuso on the 6th of November and a report was lodged at the Nausori Police Station.

ACP Khan adds the suspect was arrested in Naidovi, Sigatoka yesterday with the vehicle registration changed to a private number.

He says investigators were however able to confirm that the vehicle belonged to the victim and conducted another raid where they recovered parts of the taxi allegedly removed by the suspect.
