22 generator sets are expected to be installed at critical Water Authority of Fiji sites by later this or early next year to ensure no disruption in water supply during power outages.

WAF Chief Operations Officer Seru Soderberg says the tender for the generator sets will be closed at the end of this month.

He says after that the tender will be submitted to the WAF Board for approval in March.

He says the cost will depend on the tender because there are various sizes.

Soderberg says in the interim, they have hired generator sets for the long term which are already sitting at their critical assets.

He admits that not all of these hired generator sets can cater for an automatic switch over during an unplanned power outage but upgrades are already underway.
