2013 Constitution to me is a threat to democracy - Tikoduadua

2013 Constitution to me is a threat to democracy - Tikoduadua

Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua says he will support whatever is legal.

This is after confirmation that the Government is planning to take the 2013 Constitution to the Supreme Court.

When asked about the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill, Tikoduadua says the best thing is that people are now free to exercise their own judgment.

He says the 2013 Constitution to him is a threat to democracy, and it can't exist as it is.

The Minister says he stands by his word that this Constitution is almost impossible to change, and if that is the way a law is made, then it is undemocratic.

He further says that the power must always remain with the people to determine their destiny.

When asked if he was expecting the Opposition Member, Rinesh Sharma to change his vote, Tikoduadua says he has not spoken to him and has only heard him out.

He adds that it doesn't necessarily mean that they will agree with each other, but it is important to have dialogue.
