Two police officers have been interdicted without pay for their alleged involvement in drug-related activities.
The Fiji Police Force states that this reinforces the Police Commissioner's stand of a zero-tolerance policy against officers involved in drugs.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the two officers have been charged with one count of unlawful possession and one count of being in possession of controlled chemicals and Equipment contrary to the Illicit Drugs Control Act.
DCP Tudravu says there is no room for officers who fail to uphold the law.
The two officers were allegedly found with illicit substances later confirmed to be marijuana in Lautoka on Monday.
DCP Tudravu says any officer found breaching the very laws they swore an oath to uphold will be removed from the Force, and as well as facing criminal charges will also face their internal disciplinary processes.
The two will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.
