Another two police officers, formerly based at the Counter Narcotics Bureau, have been charged by the Major Crime Unit after consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Police say the first accused has been charged with one count of abuse of office, as he is alleged to have between January 2023 to December 2024, whilst being a police officer, abused his authority and engaged himself in unauthorised financial dealings whereby he obtained a gain of more than $22,000.

They say the 47-year old is also charged with one count of receiving corrupt benefit for the same transaction as without lawful excuse, he received a corrupt benefit amounting to more than $22,000.

The second accused, has been charged with one count of abuse of office.

It is alleged that during the month of July 2024, he abused his authority and without lawful excuse, leaked official investigation documents to an unauthorized third party, which is an arbitrary act, prejudicial to the rights of the Fiji Police Force.

Both accused persons will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

The Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed that the two be interdicted.
